ServiceENVIRONMENTAL

Environmental considerations & issues are critical to most projects. Ardill Payne & Partners’ experience encompasses all aspects of water, wastewater, stormwater and recycled water management, including treatment, distribution and storage, as well as involvement in dam construction. Consequently, Ardill Payne & Partners expanded into this area in 2000 and now has staff dedicated to environmental investigation and design. Ardill Payne & Partners’ environmental engineers work together with our various departments and sub-consultants to ensure that all environmental matters are handled in the most appropriate manner.

Ardill Payne & Partners' environmental fields of expertise include...

  • Contaminated land assessment & rehabilitation
  • Wastewater treatment and disposal design
  • Water quality analysis
  • Acid sulfate soil investigation & management
  • Stormwater quality investigation, treatment and design
  • Design of environmental treatment systems
  • Hazardous materials assessments

Contaminated Land Assessment and Rehabilitation

Contaminated land assessment and rehabilitation is undertaken during the development approval and pre construction phase of projects. The work is undertaken in accordance with various State Government Guidelines. These guidelines generate a quasi-legal / scientific investigation and reporting procedure which requires highly specific skill sets. APP has developed these skills since 2002 with the progressive increase in reporting requirements and incidence of contaminated land assessment.

APP has undertaken work in aquatic, land and air based environments for investigations into heavy metal, asbestos, hydrocarbon, plastic and organo-phosphate and organo-chlorine contamination.

Projects include

  • Beach Break residential development Suffolk Park
  • Maranoa Retirement Village Lismore
  • Service Station Lennox Head
  • Fill transport T2E Ballina
  • Aero Park Residential Development Gilgandra

Wastewater Treatment and Disposal Design

APP specialises in on site waste water treatment and disposal for industrial, commercial and residential developments. In the wastewater area, our experience encompasses collection, treatment and disposal/reuse systems. We have worked successfully on various recycled water projects and have good working experience in SCADA design and operation.

Site investigations and specific design solutions have been developed using our 15 years of experience in this area. Our work is undertaken by highly skilled professionals in accordance with government regulations and advances in proprietary treatment and disposal systems.

Projects include

  • Urunga Nursing home for UPA
  • Upgrades to Summer Guest House, Byron Bay
  • Wedding venue, Talofa
  • Eltham Valley Pantry, Eltham
  • Camping grounds, Nymboida

Acid Sulfate Soil Investigation

Acid Sulfate soils investigations are undertaken on effected sites during the development approval and construction phase of projects. The work is undertaken in accordance with various State Government Guidelines. These guidelines generate a quasi-legal / scientific investigation and reporting procedure which requires highly specific skill sets. APP has developed these skills since 2002 with the progressive increase in reporting requirements and incidence of acid sulfate soils.

Stormwater and Groundwater Dewatering Quality Investigation, Treatment and Design

Ardill Payne has extensive experience in investigating, evaluating and implementing problems and solutions around our contact with dewatering, stormwater and the treatment trains required to manage stormwater and groundwater. Our involvement in all aspects of the treatment train allows us to bring to our clients innovative, practical and sustainable solutions. This allows us to assess and minimise impacts of developments on their surrounding and more remote neighbours as well as limiting impacts on our clients’ projects.

APP has in house water quality monitoring facilities, state of the art digital modelling software, highly qualified professional engineers and technicians to carry out our stormwater projects.

Projects include

  • Pacific Pines stormwater modelling and treatment train
  • YHA basement construction dewatering, Byron Bay
  • Maranoa Retirement Village, Lismore

Hazardous Materials Assessments (Northern NSW)

Ardill Payne & Partners provide three types of hazardous materials assessments for projects ranging from small residential to medium industrial and include:

  • Type 1 – location and assessment hazardous materials assessment (presumptive HazMat assessment)
  • Type 2 – location and assessment hazardous materials assessment (sampling HazMat assessment)
  • Type 3 – full access sampling and identification hazardous materials assessment (pre demolition / major refurbishment HazMat assessment)

Type 1 & 2 HazMat assessments are for management of hazardous materials during normal occupation, whereas Type 3 HazMat assessments are for demolitions and major refurbishments which are generally to meet council requirements.

Environmental Monitoring Equipment

Environmental Monitoring Equipment

Environmental Monitoring Equipment

Ardill Payne & Partners has a track record of investing in the latest equipment, and has made acquisitions in the environment monitoring area. These are:

U-52G Multi-Parameter Water Quality Meter

Enabling Ardill Payne & Partners to measure and monitor results simultaneously, including pH, dissolved oxygen and turbidity. The unit is ideal for obtaining real time data in field sites such as rivers, groundwater, drainage water, marshes etc.

Water Table Dataloggers

The environmental team has recently purchased and installed 7 capacitance loggers into the field. These loggers measure long term water level changes in a robust economic form. They can remotely log data, taking a water level reading at a specified interval for a specified period of time. This has proven useful in sites where access is difficult and where regular groundwater level measurement is critical.

Xprafts Software:

Xprafts is a robust runoff routing model that is used extensively throughout Australia and the Asia Pacific region for hydrologic and hydraulic analysis of stormwater drainage and conveyance systems.
